Ripon Cathedral
There has been a church on the
site of Ripon Cathedral since 672 when Saint Wilfred replaced the timber of the
monastery with one in Roman style. Today the church is the fourth to having
been built on the site. The Cathedral was mostly built in the XIII century in
Early English Gothic and later in the XV century, due to the outbreak of the
war of the roses, in Perpendicular style. This was the first diocese to be established
after the Reformation.
